In 2004, Derryck Menere relocated from Sydney to Shanghai, seeking opportunities in one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly growing markets. As one of the first foreign photographers to establish a full-time presence in the city, he quickly carved a niche for himself in the burgeoning creative landscape. Being half Chinese, the move also offered a deeply personal connection to a heritage he hadn’t explored while growing up in rural Australia, enriching both his professional and personal journey.

Since then, Derryck has built an impressive portfolio, working with a diverse range of local and international clients across industries. His expertise spans food, architecture, hotel interiors, still-life/product, lifestyle, and corporate photography, alongside producing films for prominent brands like Lululemon, Hyatt, Decathlon, and Herman Miller. Operating from his own studio in central Shanghai with a dedicated team of two full-time assistants, Derryck’s work often takes him across Asia and North America, where he brings client visions to life through stunning photography and films.

Derryck’s client list includes renowned names such as Dyson, ALDI, Metro, Porsche, Hilton, Marriott, and Fairmont Resorts, as well as design studios like Gensler and Neri & Hu. His work has graced the pages of prestigious publications including Wallpaper, Architectural Record, and Conde Nast Traveller. Recently, his fashion films “Windswept” and “Midnight Bloom” have gained international recognition, being featured at fashion film festivals in Berlin, London, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and Milan. Derryck continues to push creative boundaries, blending technical excellence with a profound artistic vision.

Kevin Kang has been a cornerstone of DM Photography since 2007, evolving from a dedicated team member into a celebrated photographer in his own right. Alongside managing the studio, Kevin specializes in capturing stunning images of interiors, architecture, furniture, and products. His meticulous attention to detail and artistic flair allow him to transform everyday spaces and objects into captivating visual narratives. With years of experience and a passion for excellence, Kevin consistently delivers work that resonates with clients and elevates their brands.

Yin Hai Chen has been an integral member of DM Photography since 2013, combining technical precision with a flair for creativity. As an assistant and photo retoucher, Yin ensures every project meets the highest standards, while his inventive approach often leads to unique solutions for video and lifestyle photography. His dedication and creativity continually elevate the studio’s work, making him a cornerstone of its success.
